Good, old-fashioned grudge match

The only thing better than two guys who just can’t agree… is when they both are professional fighters. Cedar Park resident and King of Kombat veteran Duece King recently posted on his Myspace page his desire to go toe-to-toe with Ira Boyd. Ira ain’t got the best record, hasn’t fought (officially) in a couple years and Duece is a bad bad man, but Ira’s got good abs. And these grudge matches are fun to watch however they turn out.
Duece writes “well this ira boyd <bleep> has kicked up again so i need y’all to read how the back and forth is going. i guess he’s confident cuz i lost a few but he sucks bad. i am getting to the point where i have too much experience to fight nobodys so by ira calling me out it’s an excuse to take an easy fight and not be looked at as sand bagging.”

It doesn’t take us much to get us out to a King of Kombat show but a Duece King with a chip on his shoulder - that’s entertainment worth paying for.

Sammy Vazquez RIP, 1 Year Later

On Sunday, we mark the passing of Houston MMA fighter Sammy Vasquez one year ago. Sammy’s death is one of the most tragic in Mixed Martial Arts - the first in the wake of a sanctioned and regulated professional MMA fight. We wanted to take a moment to pay tribute to Sammy. Sadly, because of Mixed Martial Arts’ never-ending pursuit of mainstream acceptance and legalization and sanctioning in all 50 states, Sammy has not received the attention he is justly due. His contribution to the sport during his life has been neglected because of the circumstances of his death.

Revolution Dojo in Houston has written a terrific tribute we include here in the hopes you may take a few moments to remember, or learn of, Sammy on the one year anniversary of his passing.
Sammy’s organs were donated when he passed. Whoever got his guts… that’s one lucky man.

“Back in the late ’80s, Randy “The Ram” Robinson (Mickey Rourke) was a headlining professional wrestler. Now, twenty years later, he ekes out a living performing for handfuls of diehard wrestling fans in high school gyms and community centers around New Jersey.”

New Darren Aronovsky (Requiem for a Dream) film starring Mickey Rourke (9 1/2 Weeks, Sin City, Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man). I’m in. Looks good too.
