Cheese rolling in England. It’s more painful than it sounds.
Anyone know where a hill like this can be found in Central Texas? I smell a really great event that could be had…
Fight to Win Jiu Jitsu Returns to Austin
The last Fight to Win Jiu Jitsu event packed Anderson High School’s gym to capacity - competitors and spectators alike jammed the floor and bench seating as 8 areas held some very competitive jiu jitsu throughout the day. The Relson Gracie Academy won the team title and will look to defend it on June 13 against Grappler’s Lair, Competitive Training Center, Team Lutter, Gracie Barra New Mexico, and other top regional jiu jitsu academies.
Fight to Win was a hit, and is returning to Austin Saturday, June 13 to again test the Texas Jiu Jitsu community against each other. This time Fight to Win goes to Reagan High School on 290 just West of 183, a larger gym with more room for what is expected to be even greater attendance.
The Texas Testosterone Festival will be hosting The Relson Gracie Texas Jiu Jitsu Tournament and Team Challenge on Sunday, August 16 and will be hosted by the legend himself, Relson Gracie.
For the registration form, click here. Registration form also includes opportunities to register for the Relson Gracie Jiu Jitsu Seminar and Amir Sadollah Mixed Martial Arts Seminar on Saturday, August 15.

Kamal Shalorus Returns to Action June 20
SWC 7 is being held at the Frisco Convention Center outside Dallas on June 20 and includes a packed card of Texas’s most talented MMA fighters headlined by Kamal Shalorus.
Kamal is coming off an exciting draw against Mikel Bronzoulis at the last King of Kombat show, trading head-kicks and punch combinations with Mikel that had the crowd on its feet and each opponent barely able to stay on their own. Kamal faces 2-0 jiu-jitsu prospect Justin Miller on June 20 in a fight sure to be quite different than the one against the heavy-handed Bronzoulis.
Duece King, Tim Snyder, and Ryan Lopez are among the other fighters on the card. According to The Fight Network, this is how the card looks of late:

Madden 10 Co-op Play Preview
How exciting is the next release of the Madden football franchise? EA Sports is adding a co-op play feature for multiple players to play on the same team (a QB and a receiver, for example) from different locations through the internet. The video below gets into the details.
The game is released August 14 but make a plan to NOT sit in your house the entire following weekend. Play in a Madden tournament August 16 at The Texas Testosterone Festival and make some money crushing the competition. Losers stay at home.

Phil Cardella Returns to WEC August 9
Phil Cardella will be facing Ed “9mm” Ratcliff at WEC 42 on Sunday, August 9, according to MMAWeekly.com. Cardella is coming off a 42 second submission victory over Johnny Flores and is one fight removed from a split decision loss to Danny Castillo at WEC 39. MMAWeekly writes of the loss “Cardella was a winner in the minds of many fans and critics after his fight against Danny Castillo ended a split decision.”
Perhaps they read some of the thoughts from this site.
Ed Ratcliff has been quiet ever since his loss to Dallas’s Marcus Hicks in WEC 33 in March of 2008. Suffering injuries and dropping to lightweight, “9mm” is a tough and unorthodox striker.
Read more of what Cardella has to say about the matchup at MMAWeekly.com. Follow the other rumored fights for the card at MMAJunkie.com as well.
Sunday, August 9 is going to be a big day for the Testosterone Festival. Plan to spend it with us at Bikinis Bar and Grill on IH-35 in Austin. 3:00 is Come See Grown Men Cry, a competitive eating event, followed by The Fantasy Poker League at 6:00, then we will be gathering to cheer Phil on when his fight is hopefully televised that evening.
Here’s some video on Ratcliff for you to get a sense of what Ratcliff will try to bring to Cardella’s table.
Breweries Still Can’t Sell Us Beer - Update

We’re not fans of politics, just fans of beer. When someone says “no beer for you” we get hostile and uppity. We don’t know the details, but the I Love Beer blog does. Click here for an update on what’s going on with Texas breweries’ attempt to get permission to sell beer. Looks like the compromise limits us to two cases of beer on our way out of a “brewery tour.”
Officer, that’s as much as we limit ourselves to.
Seems we can’t drink the beer at the brewery, however, which kind of defeats the purpose.
Oh well. Saves us calling DWIDude.com on our way home. Just… in… case. (Save Jamie Balagia’s phone number to your cell phone (512) 278-0935 in the Austin area or (210) 394-3833 in the San Antonio area.
Update 5/24: Beer bill is bumped.
When you know your Engine like the Back of your Hand

CruzinWorld.com has a unique item that made us take notice - custom-made rings detailed as the Chevy engine block of your choice. They also have a Corvette engine and a number of Hemis, and the amount of detail put into each ring looks like it’s a very visible difference for all the variety of Chevy engines alone.
Thanks to Thrillist.com for the heads up.
Turfcats Whup Pirates - Rematch This Weekend
The Austin Turfcats protected a 16-0 first-half lead against the Texas Pirates Saturday to win 38-20 on the back of tenacious defense and special teams. It was the first of a home-and-home series with the Pirates. A blocked field goal for a touchdown, an interception, fumbles all played to the Turfcats favor in an exciting match of hard-hitting indoor football. So… why did the Turfcats leave the field with a minute left in the game?
The Turfcats improve to 4-1 to tie for the lead in the Southern Indoor Football League with the Louisiana Swashbucklers.
The Turfcats face the Pirates in Houston Saturday and their next home game will be against an opponent to be announced. The Florida Kings have been expelled from the league leaving the Turfcats temporarily without an opponent for their next game at home.
Bikini Contest and Crawfish Boil in Austin Saturday
Our favorite place to drink and eat, Bikinis Bar and Grill, is hosting their 1st Annual Crawfish Boil and Bikini Contest this Saturday, May 30. The event starts at 3:00 and the bikini contest will be held around 6:00.
We checked out the Crawfish Boil and Bikini Contest at Bikinis San Marcos location and won’t be missing out on this one either. Beer specials! Just a great hang. Bikini Contest! Need we say more?
At the San Marcos Crawfish boil a waitress won their Crawfish-eating contest. That’s entertainment.
