Amir Sadollah In-Depth at UFC.com
Great article on Amir Sadollah’s preparation for his fight Saturday night versus Johny Hendricks is now up on UFC.com.
Some highlights: “Amir Sadollah swept onto the UFC scene in 2008, light on experience but heavy on skills, talent and heart. In the process, he became the middleweight winner of The Ultimate Fighter’s seventh season, a charismatic and humble Surgical Technician out of Virginia who quickly gained a legion of fans with his feel-good Cinderella run.”
“He’s used his time constructively, but Sadollah admits to getting frustrated at times while he has had to wait to get back in the Octagon. After winning (The Ultimate Fighter TV Show Season) 7 and moving to Las Vegas to train with his coach on the show, Forrest Griffin, Sadollah undoubtedly had plans to hit the ground running in the UFC.”
““The biggest thing I had to learn to correct was working too hard,” Sadollah says of his transition to Las Vegas after TUF 7.”
““I’m very young, very raw; I’m still hoping to go a lot further. I think the minute you even start to entertain the idea that you might be happy where you are, is when you stop growing. I never think like that. I’m proud to have gotten to where I have but it’s nowhere near the top and it’s nowhere near where I tell myself I can be.” ”
Amir is running a Mixed Martial Arts Seminar Presented by King of Kombat on Saturday, August 15. Visit this link to preregister to participate now.
Amir will also be participating in a live Q&A with Steve Sievert of MMAJunkie.com, also Presented by King of Kombat. Both events are available to witness by anyone with a ticket to The Texas Testosterone Festival. Purchase tickets for you, your friends, and acquaintances today.
Darrill Schoonover Rumored for TUF 10
While Kimbo Slice and a handful of former NFLers are getting the attention, Texas’ own Darrill Schoonover is the one we’re most excited to see in action. Boasting a 10-0 record with wins over some of the region’s best Heavyweights over the past two years, Schoonover will take a solid resume of victories up against an internet sensation and NFLers without a Superbowl ring among them.
Here is footage of Schoonover taking on Justin Howard from Austin.

King of the Underdogs - The Audition
Amir Sadollah is the man. More than in any other season of The Ultimate Fighter, and possibly any other reality show, Amir personified the underdog. His self-effacement in pre-fight interviews, outpourings of respect for his competitors, and unassuming physical presence all betrayed the fact the guy kicks ass.
As huge Oleg Taktarov fans, we immediately gravitated to Amir’s style of comeback victories and sneaky submissions in the jaws of defeat. The dude has a chin and when combined with a never-say-die attitude he’s the kind of fighter everyone has to respect.
How awesome that poster-boy C.B. Dolloway was so surprised by his loss to Amir in the TUF Semi-Finals the UFC gave him a second shot at Amir and Amir defies everyone but his most hardcore believers and woops C.B.’s ass again.
The groovy dudes over at Suckerpunch Entertainment have posted Amir’s audition video for The Ultimate Fighter 7. As we soak in the underdog victories in the Finale of TUF 8 we thought it would be appropriate to give the Amir Sadollah his just due. You want to see a REAL underdog? Watch Amir Sadollah.
Our Picks for UFC Ultimate Fighter Finale Honors
Dear UFC President Dana White,
We respectfully submit to you the following…
Junie Browning (grudgingly) deserves Submission of the Night. The fact is the guy shouldn’t have been on the main card, the finale at all, or event the last half dozen episodes of this season of The Ultimate Fighter. The damage he will cause long-term to the credibility of the show and to fighters in general has probably been overstated but some damage is irrefutable. Previous to tonight, the quality of his performances was disproportionate to the amount of leeway he was granted by UFC President Dana White. Tonight’s performance, however, was dominating and one of the most impressive Finale performances ever. The armbar he secured on Dave Kaplan wasn’t the cleanest submission of all time but the domination and setup were high art and he should be rewarded accordingly. Argh…
Anthony Johnson deserves KO of the Night. Highlight-reel KO’s are demanded and Johnson delvered. The fact that it was such exact justice for the eye-popping loss at the fingers of Kevin Burns earlier this year only further fuels how necessary this reward is.
Anthony Johnson also deserves a second reward for Fight of the Night along with the very game Kevin Burns. This was a great up-and-down, back-and-forth battle with plenty of backstory. We loved the battle and thought it was the most entertaining of the night.
Much love,
The Texas Testosterone Festival
P.S. We apologize to everyone for prematurely handing Submission of the Night honors to Vinny Magalhaes. The guy will be a beast at 205 and a beaster at 185, tonight just wasn’t his night. Props to Ryan Bader.
P.P.S. We respectfully submit the Pay-Per-View on December 27 should be rescheduled so I can keep my wife happy on our anniversary and still be able to see the show live. Let me know what you can do.
